Chandrabhaga Beach is situated three km east of the Sun temple of Konark, in the Puri district in the state of Odisha, India. The abode of the magnificent Sun Temple, the beach is known for its stunning sunrise and sunset.This sea beach is named after Chandrabhaga river which joins the sea here. Every year on 7th full moon day of Magha month ( local calendar ) special Puja organised here and many visit this beach on this day to take bath ( holy dip ) in sea water.the Chandrabhaga Beach is considered to be one of the biggest assets of the state as far as tourism is concerned. One of the finest, cleanest and greenest beaches in eastern India, it is located at Chandrabhaga.The lengthy stretch of sylvan sands and soothing blue sea rushing in, undulating waves makes the Konark Beach one of the beautiful places to visit in Konark. A leisurely stroll along the beach side is a lovely experience. Tourists can also enjoy beach activities like sunbathing, surfing and many more. A light house, close by Chandrabhaga is an added attraction to this place.To show their respect towards this beach and to the Sun God, a week-long fair known as the Chandrabhaga Mela is held every year. During this period, the Tourism Department of the Government of Odisha organises a Sand Art competition for people all around the world. A wide range of individuals take part in this competition and showcase their artistic skills by creating a wide range of sand sculptures with the sand from the beach as their only tools.lakhs of people from all over the state and outside gather to take a holy dip in the river that is reduced to a shallow pool, offer their prayers to the Sun God and enjoy the Sun rise.Chandrabhaga Beach is accepted to have seen the ascent and fall of the Konark Temple. Chandrabhaga Mela, which is a multi day reasonable, is composed at the sea shore to respect Lord Surya.The relaxing environment of the Chandrabhaga Beach, formerly Chandrabhaga was considered a place of natural cure for lepers.
