By Train:  Sambalpur is home to four railway stations: Khetrajpur, Sambalpur Road (Fatak), Sambalpur City, and Hirakud. All major cities and metro areas in India have direct train connections.

By Road: Sambalpur is on National Highway 6, which connects Mumbai and Kolkata also National Highway 42 connects it to Bhubaneswar.
