Earwax is a natural substance that our body produces to help protect and lubricate the ear. However, it can sometimes build up and cause pain, itching, hearing loss or a blockage in the ear canal.

If you are experiencing a blockage, your doctor can flush out the ear wax using a syringe filled with water or a mild solution of diluted hydrogen peroxide.

1. Salt Water

Salt water is an excellent earwax removal home remedy. Dissolve a teaspoon of salt in a half-cup of warm water. Soak a cotton ball in the solution, tilt your head to one side and drip the liquid into your ear canal.

After a few minutes, tilt your head to the opposite side and drain out the earwax-softening solution. Repeat this process for each ear.

In addition to baking, it can be used to clean laundry, nix unpleasant odors and soothe a sunburn.

It’s also been shown to help people with low blood bicarbonate levels. It can help improve the pH balance in your body, which can relieve acid reflux and heartburn.

4. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is a natural lubricant that helps soften and remove earwax. Just fill a dropper with the oil at room temperature and place a few drops into your ear.

Earwax can build up because it's trying to protect the ear canal from objects that can cause irritation or infection. It may also build up when you're wearing headphones, earbuds or hearing aids that touch your ears.

5. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is a popular kitchen ingredient and has numerous health benefits. It can help with a wide range of issues, including ear infections, warts, and lice.

It has also been shown to reduce triglycerides and total cholesterol levels, as well as increase HDL “good” cholesterol.

The vinegar is made through a process called fermentation that involves the yeast and bacteria breaking down the sugars in the apples into alcohol. This is then broken down into acetic acid, which gives the vinegar its flavor and smell.

6. Olive Oil

Olive oil is a natural anti-inflammatory that can reduce the symptoms of ear infections. It can also soften ear wax and help clear up blocked ears.

Earwax is produced naturally in the ear canal to protect the skin and keep dirt and bacteria from entering the ear. However, excess earwax can build up and cause itching and discomfort.

Swabs and cotton buds are often used to remove earwax but can push it further into the ear and increase your risk of an infection. They can also damage your ear drum, so always use them with caution.
